Which single wall box size do I need?

Measure the item once it is wrapped, then pick the box that leaves a little room for void fill on every side. Sizes are inches first, with millimetres alongside.

Single wall or double wall?

Single wall boxes are one layer of B flute corrugated board, and most sizes are rated for 5 to 10 kg. That covers clothing, gifts and light homeware. Books and tools get heavy long before the box is full, so for dense contents or anything over 10 kg choose a double wall box. The 12 x 9 x 9, 12 x 9 x 12 and 18 x 12 x 12 in sizes come in double wall too.

Buying single wall boxes in bulk

Every size is a FEFCO 0201 standard flap box, supplied flat. The minimum order is 10 boxes, and each size has price breaks up to wholesale quantities, applied automatically in the basket. Prices are shown ex VAT.

For small, slim items a white small parcel postal box can be a closer fit. Seal boxes with paper tape to keep the parcel plastic-free.

Frequently Asked Questions About Single Wall Boxes

Single wall boxes are ideal for packing lighter items up to 15kg, such as clothing, books, toys, and household items. They are the most economical box type for general shipping and storage, offering good protection for items that do not require heavy-duty packaging.

Single wall boxes have one layer of corrugated fluting (typically B or C flute) sandwiched between two liner boards. They have a typical burst strength of 125-200 kPa and edge crush test values of 20-35 kN/m. This makes them suitable for stacking up to 3-4 boxes high when packed correctly.

We stock over 40 sizes of single wall boxes ranging from small (152 x 152 x 152mm) to extra-large (595 x 394 x 388mm). Our most popular sizes match standard postal dimensions to help minimise shipping costs. Custom sizes are available for orders of 500+ boxes.

Yes, single wall boxes are excellent for postal shipping. We offer a range specifically designed for Royal Mail and courier size bands, helping you qualify for the lowest postal rates. For fragile items, ensure adequate internal cushioning or consider upgrading to double wall boxes.

Single wall boxes typically cost 30-40% less than equivalent-sized double wall boxes. For many applications, single wall provides adequate protection at a lower cost. However, for fragile or heavy items, the extra investment in double wall boxes can reduce damage rates and save money overall.
